
ACU finishes fourth at WT

CANYON -- The ACU Wildcats finished the weather-shortened West Texas A&M Buffalo Stampede in fourth place after firing a final-round 297 on Tuesday, finishing 10 strokes behind tournament champion St. Mary's at the LaPaloma Golf Course.
The Wildcats, ranked No. 13 in the nation, finished the 36-hole tournament at 607, while the Rattlers won the tournament with a two-round total of 597. West Texas A&M was second at 598, followed by Western New Mexico in third at 601, ACU in fourth, Southeastern Oklahoma State in fifth at 617, East Central in sixth at 641 and Panhandle State in seventh at 683. The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes over two days, but high winds on Monday forced the cancellation of second round play.
ACU's Hilton Funk, playing as an individual medalist, finished tied for fourth in the medalist standings, firing a two-round total of 148 (76-72). Colin Cruz of West Texas A&M won the individual title at 1-under-par 141 (69-72). ACU's Patrick Hanauer finished 12th at 151 (79-72), while Stephen Knight was tied for 13th (77-75?152), Curtis Harris (77-76) and Erik Manning (77-76) each finished tied for 15th at 153.
