ACU adds two more JC transfers

Wildcats add Southern California Player of the Year

ABILENE -- ACU softball coach Chantiel Wilson continued her raid on Southern California by adding two more junior college transfers for the 2005 season, including the Southern California Player of the Year in Lindsay Vincent from Bakersfield College.

Wilson also announced that Pasadena City College shortstop Daisy Barcena will transfer to ACU, joining Vincent and previous transfer Claudia Stephens on the 2005 ACU roster.

Vincent hit better than .400 with 11 doubles and was also 10-3 with a 0.55 ERA and 137 strikeouts on the mound to earn junior college all-America and Southern California Player of the Year honors.  Vincent was a first team all-state selection as both a freshman and sophomore, and was the conference Pitcher of the Year as a freshman.  She was the conference MVP last year as a sophomore.

As a high school standout at Bakersfield High School, Vincent was team MVP as a junior and senior, and was the league's Pitcher of the Year as both a junior and senior.

Barcena hit .433 as a sophomore at Pasadena City College, leading her team to a 25-13-1 record.  She set a new school single-season record with 21 doubles, and she also drove in 32 runs.  She finished fifth in the South Coast Conference in batting average, and was a first team all-SCC selection.  She was the SCC Freshman of the Year in 2003.

A two-year captain at Hoover High School in California, Barcena was a member of the 2001 Senior Little League Softball World Series championship team.
