Kelsey Ground joined the Abilene Christian women's basketball staff in May 2026 as the director of basketball operations. She previously served as an assistant coach and graduate assistant at Tarleton State during the 2025-26 season, where she assisted with recruiting efforts, practices, workouts and scouting.
The Texans received three All-WAC honors and advanced to the conference tournament semifinals. Ground is coming off a career as a women's basketball and tennis student-athlete for the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark. from 2023-25.
Ground earned her Bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of the Ozarks in 2025 before receiving her Master's in sport management from Tarleton State. Off the court, Ground served as the SAAC director of social media and was a student assistant for the Ozarks volleyball team. She was also an operations associate for Game On Arena Sports.
The Mineral Wells, Texas native scored over 2,000 career points at Millsap High School and was named the Parker County and District Offensive Player of the Year.
What head coach Julie Goodenough is saying:
"Just a few minutes into the interview with Coach Ground, I could tell that she was organized, driven, hard working, intelligent and a problem solver. These are definitely necessary characteristics for coordinating travel in a new conference and in overseeing purchasing for our program. She has already proven to be a great addition with her behind-the-scenes efforts on our summer camps."
