Biography

Expected to redshirt for the Wildcats in 2006. High school: Starter in the secondary for back-to-back 12-1 teams at Abilene HS. Two-time first team all-District 3-5A performer who was also first team all-region, first team all-Big Country and all-Big Country Super Team by the Abilene Reporter-News. As a senior Powell was second team all-state and first team academic all-state. Powell played on 2004-05 teams that were a combined 24-2 and finished with back-to-back 10-0 regular seasons, the first time AHS teams have accomplished that feat since the 1950s.
