One of the Wildcats’ returning starters on the defensive side of the ball, Thompson will once again line up at outside linebacker after a sensational sophomore season.
2008 (Sophomore): Thompson started in 11 games for the Wildcats, missing only the team’s win over Texas A&M-Commerce on Sept. 13. He finished with 56 tackles (34 solo), 14 tackles for loss (minus-75 yards in losses), and he also had 7.5 sacks (minus-61 yards in losses). Thompson also forced one fumble, recovered one fumble, recorded six quarterback hurries and four pass breakups. He was voted first team all-Lone Star Conference South Division after his performance for the Wildcats.
2007 (Freshman): Undersized defensive end played 13 games at the position as a true freshman, finishing with 51 tackles (29 solo), including a team-best 15.5 tackles for loss. He had 1.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble returns, one interception, five quarterback hurries, two pass breakups and one blocked kick in a fine freshman season. He had a season-high seven tackles (three solo) in the Wildcats’ wild 70-63 win over Tarleton State on Oct. 27. He had a season-high 3.0 tackles for loss in ACU’s 41-31 loss to West Texas A&M on Oct. 20, and he had six tackles in three separate games during the season.
