Listed as a backup defensive back after transferring to ACU from UNLV.

2005 (UNLV): Whitley played in two games for the Rebels, collecting one tackle for a 2-10 team.

2004 (Victor Valley College): In one season at Victor Valley, Whitley earned second team all-conference honors as a defensive back, recording 52 tackles, four interceptions, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two blocked punts. He also broke up 14 passes and scored one defensive touchdowns. He also played some offense, recording 134 receiving yards and two touchdowns as a wide receiver.

High school: Whitley played quarterback, wide receiver, cornerback and also returned punts at Del Valle HS. As a prep player he threw for 1,800 yards and rushed for 2,200 yards on offense and had eight interceptions as a defensive back. He holds the school record for longest interception return (98 yards) and most interception return yards (300). Whitley was named the district MVP and was first team all-region as a defensive back his senior year.
