Former Wildcat Brock Sherwood is in his first season as a student assistant on the ACU football staff after his playing career was cut
short by knee injuries.
Sherwood signed with ACU in February 2004 out of Panhandle High School, but never played because of severe knee problems. Sherwood instead worked as a student assistant at ACU last year, and will coach wide receivers this season.
He was named second team Class 2A all-state and first team all-West Texas by TexasPrepXtra.com. He was also named the Amarillo Globe-News Super Team Offensive Player of the Year, the KGNC Radio/Sonic Scholar Athlete of the Year, and the Texas Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame Football Athlete of the Year.
Sherwood finished his career by completing 342 of 629 passes for 5,487 yards and 64 TD passes. As a junior in 2002 he completed 118 of 226 passes for 1,834 yards and 22 touchdowns while rushing for 598 yards and four touchdowns.
