Listed as a backup quarterback going into the 2006 season. Vying for the punting job going into the season. 2005 (Sophomore): Did not play during the season. 2004 (Redshirt freshman): Played in four games as the backup to Greg Wiggins. When Wiggins was hurt against Southeastern Oklahoma State, Pierce finished the game, completing 2 of 4 passes for 14 yards. He started the next week against Angelo State. Pierce was 9 for 21 for 106 yards as ACU pulled out a 29-25 comeback victory over the Rams. High school: Played for legendary San Angelo Central quarterback Gary Mullins at Grapevine HS where he led the Mustangs to records of 6-4 in 2001 and 5-5 in 2002.
