Biography

Before ACU

Evan finished up a strong senior season for Rockwall-Heath HS by finishing 4th in the UIL 6A 800 with a personal record time of 1:51.89 – a time that was the #6 best time in Texas and #97 in the U.S. for high schoolers. He completed his HS career as the school record holder for Rockwall-Heath HS in the 800. Earlier in the year, he finished 2nd in the 800 at three major indoor meets in the Southwestern U.S., the Wes Kittley Invitational at Texas Tech, the Arkansas HS Invitational in Fayetteville, and the Texas A&M University HS Invitational in College Station. His time at the Wes Kittley – a 1:54.35 – was the #4 best indoor time in Texas and the #89 best indoor time in the U.S. In the fall of his senior year, Evan qualified for the UIL 6A XC Championship for the first time in his career. As a junior, he finished 7th in the Region II-6A meet in the 800. In the summer of 2024, he qualified for the USATF Junior Olympic Championship and placed 2nd in the 800 and 5th in the 1500 competing for the Texas Titans TC. He was also a 3-time All-District competitor in golf. He played in the 6A State Golf Tournament days after placing 4th in the UIL 6A T&F meet. 

Personal 

A 2025 graduate of Rockwall-Heath HS, Evan finished his HS career decorated academically -  a 2-time recipient of the Superintendent Scholar Award and Academic All-State 2nd team. His parents are Roxanne and Ryan Martin and he has one brother, Luke. His Grandfather, Leroy Ryza, played football at Rice University. At ACU, Evan intends to major in Kinesiology. He has also been active as a volunteer with Best Buddies and in the children’s ministry at his home church, Lakepointe Church.
