2025 Cross Country Roster
Biography
2025-2026
Cross Country – competed in 5 XC meets on the season. Her highest finish of the year was finishing as the 5 th best ACU runner in the UTA Gerald Richey Invitational. She finished her season at the WAC Championship in 58 th place – the 8 th best ACU finisher.
2024-2025
Cross Country – Alyssa started the year competing in the first three meets of the season, always finishing in the top-5 of ACU finishers. However, she was only able to compete in 1 of the championship meets of the season, the WAC Championship where she finished 74th overall and was the #8 ACU finisher.
Indoors – did not compete in 2025.
Outdoors – competed in 2 meets, with a personal best of 5:26.77 in the 1500 at the ACU Wes Kittley Invitational held at Elmer Gray Stadium.
Before ACU
As a senior, Alyssa narrowly missed a spot at the state track meet, getting 6th in the 3200 and 9th in the 1600 at the Region IV 4A meet. In the fall of her senior year, Alyssa qualified for state and placed 39th at the 4A XC meet. During her junior year, she placed 10th in the 1600 and 11th in the 3200 on the track at her regional meet. She was a 4-time district champion and was the District MVP as a senior. She was a 2-year team captain and is the 1600 meter school record holder for Floresville HS. She was also 1st team Academic All-District and a member of the Academic All-State team.
Personal
Alyssa graduated from Floresville HS in the spring of 2024, as a A-Honor Roll member and in the top 10% of her graduating class. She received the TX Milesplit Scholarship and the Floresville Booster Club Scholarship. Her parents are Samantha & Hugo Garza and Jacob Quinones. She also has 2 sisters –Scarlett and Cataleya – and a brother, Elijah. At ACU, Alyssa is a Social Work major.
Why did you choose ACU? The feeling of community and how genuine everyone is.
What is your favorite thing about ACU? As soon as I stepped on campus, it truly felt like home. Everyone was so kind and welcoming, and I was truly moved by how open and genuine people were about their faith. I felt so excited to grow in my own walk with God and to be in fellowship with such amazing people.
