Biography

Wiman returns for his senior season where he’ll pitch again at the top of the Wildcats’ rotation.  ACU_head coach Britt Bonneau calls Wiman “the most competitive pitcher the Wildcats have” on the roster.  Enters his senior season with 19 career wins, which is sixth on ACU’s career list.  2007 (Junior):  Followed up a 10-4 sophomore season with a 9-3 campaign, helping the Wildcats to a record 47 wins.  In 90 innings of work, Wiman allowed just 43 runs (39 earned) while striking out a team-high 80 batters.  ACU outscored the opposition 130-77 in the 20 games in which Wiman pitched.  Wiman’s best game of the season came in a 5-3 win over West Texas A&M on April 27.  Wiman scattered six hits and three walks over seven innings, while allowing just one run while striking out nine Buffaloes.  Wiman earned first team all-Lone Star Conference South Division honors.  2006 (Sophomore):  Wiman turned in a spectacular season for the Wildcats, leading the Lone Star Conference in wins (10-4) and strikeouts (88)_while pitching a team-high 91 2/3 innings, earning first team all-LSC_South Division honors.  Wiman won his first six decisions, and one of those six wins was one of two complete-game one-hitters that Wiman threw for the Wildcats in 2006.  On March 3 at Crutcher Scott Field, Wiman went all seven innings against the Redmen and allowed just a two-out fifth-inning single.  He walked just one batter and struck out seven batters while allowing only three baserunners (hit, walk and error).  No Redmen baserunner, though, advanced past first base.  He twirled another one-hitter on April 14 when he dominated the 10th-ranked Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville, allowing just a two-out seventh-inning single in another complete-game performance.  Wiman walked a pair of Javelinas and gave up a single for Kingsville’s only baserunners, but again, none of the three advanced past first base in a 2-0 ACU_win.  Wiman established a career high for strikeouts in a game on Feb. 4 when he pitched a complete game in a 6-2 win over Henderson State that was punctuated by Wiman’s 12 strikeouts.  He also had a pair of eight-strikeout games (April 21 vs. Eastern New Mexico and April 29 vs. West Texas A&M), and he had three seven-strikeout games (Feb. 16 vs. Central Oklahoma, Feb. 24 vs. East Central and March 3 vs. Northeastern State).  He also had one save on the season, that a hitless one-inning stint in ACU’s season-opening win over Henderson State. High school:  Wiman was an all-district and all-state pitcher and was the district’s Pitcher of the Year.  Personal:  Born 25 August 1983.  2002 graduate of Little Elm High School.
