Romero Records Three Hits, Cats Back in Action Sunday

NORMAN, Okla. — Abilene Christian faced a tough day at Love's Field, suffering two defeats during the Okana Invitational. The Wildcats were first defeated by Louisiana 10-3 before losing to No. 4/6 Oklahoma 8-0 on Saturday.
Emalee Romero provided the offensive highlight and consistency as she finished 3-for-5 at the plate.
Game 1: Louisiana 10, ACU 3
ACU scored all three of its runs in the fifth inning as Kyana Lipardo and Emalee Romero each singled to set the stage. Freshman Ciana Arguijo delivered a crucial double to left center, driving in both baserunners. Ari Maxwell followed with a single through the left side to bring Arguijo home, cutting the deficit to 10-3. However, the score remained unchanged for the rest of the game, with Louisiana securing the victory.
Ella Beeman pitched for 3 1/3 innings against Louisiana, allowing 9 hits and 6 earned runs, while striking out 2 batters. Leah Meyer entered in relief, pitching 2 2/3 innings, giving up 4 hits and 4 earned runs. Romero also had a double to go 2/3 at the dish.
Game 2: #4/6 Oklahoma 8, ACU 0 (6 innings)
The powerful Oklahoma Sooners, one of college softball's premiere programs, took control with two runs each in the second, third, fourth and sixth innings.
Alissa Snipes pitched 3 innings against Oklahoma, allowing 5 hits and 5 earned runs, while Lindsey Oliver came in relief for 2 2/3 innings, surrendering 5 hits and 3 runs. Kyana Lipardo and Emalee Romero each recorded a hit, with Lipardo going 1-for-2 and Romero also finishing 1-for-2.

The Wildcats take on the Ragin' Cajuns and Sooners again on Sunday. The ACU and Louisiana game begins at 10 a.m., and the Okana Invitational finale against Oklahoma is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. on SEC Network+.
