ARLINGTON, Texas - Abilene Christian men's golf's Grégoire Hoyeau earned All-Western Athletic Conference Second Team honors for the 2024-25 season, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. The WAC's yearly awards are voted on by the conference's head coaches.
No. 578 Hoyeau led the 144th-ranked Wildcats to top-five showings at five of the six team stroke play tournaments he competed in, as well as a tie for second at the South Texas Match Play. ACU registered second-place performances at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic and the Colin Montgomerie Invitational.
"Grégoire has established himself as one of our top players this year and it is nice to see him rewarded with an All-WAC selection," head coach
Tom Shaw said. "Grégoire is one of our hardest workers and sets a great example for the rest of our team. We can always count on him to give us everything he has each round, just like he did at the WAC Championship with his top-10 finish."
Hoyeau closed out the spring on April 25-27 with an eighth-place finish at the WAC Championship, firing a 4-over 216 to tie his career-best placement in a team tournament. It was one of two top-10 outings for the Paris native after he tied for eighth at the Bentwater Intercollegiate in February, recording a 2-over 215 with a 1-under 70 second round.
Hoyeau opened the semester at Los Vaqueros Intercollegiate, where he shot 3-over 219 to finish in 12th place and power the Wildcats to fourth on the leaderboard. He capped the tournament with a 3-under 69 in the third round and was named the Jersey Mike's A Sub Above WAC Men's Golfer of the Week for his efforts.
With an adjusted scoring average of 72.8, Hoyeau's top finish of the season came at Oklahoma's Spring Indy as he tied for second at 1-over 211 behind a pair of eagles.
