Box Score MESA, Ariz. — Abilene Christian University Baseball wrapped up its season in dramatic fashion on Saturday afternoon at Hohokam Stadium, battling Utah Valley in a hard-fought 11–9 loss at Hohokam Stadium.
The Wildcats struck early, putting up runs in each of the first three innings and jumping out to a 4–1 lead. However, Utah Valley responded with a five-run fourth inning and never looked back, holding off several ACU rallies to secure the win.
Despite the loss, ACU showcased offensive firepower throughout the contest. The Wildcats launched three home runs and racked up nine total hits, led by designated hitter Diego Cardenas and outfielder Reese Borho, who each went deep and drove in crucial runs. Brady Gray added another homer in the seventh inning, part of a three-run surge that kept the Wildcats within striking distance.
Mason Strong was a standout performer for the Wolverines, going 4-for-5 with two home runs and three RBIs. The Wolverines tallied 12 hits, including four homers of their own, and made the most of their baserunners with five stolen bases.
The ACU bullpen was called into action early after starter Noah Galvan surrendered three runs. Despite solid relief efforts from multiple arms, Utah Valley's offense proved relentless, scoring in six separate innings.
The Wildcats were able to leave the tournament with a mark. Chandler Benson, Dominick Reid, Zandt Payne, Grant Watkins and Diego Cardenas were able to make the WAC All-Tournament Team.
With the defeat, ACU concludes its 2025 campaign with a strong 34-win season.
