ACU Earns Fourth Top-Three Finish of Season at “Mo” Morial Invitational

FINAL RESULTS
BRYAN, Texas - No. 95 Abilene Christian women's golf picked up its fourth top-three finish of the season with a third-place showing at the "Mo" Morial Invitational at Traditions Club on Tuesday. No. 100 Ryann Honea came in fourth place on the individual leaderboard to earn her fifth top-five performance of the year.
The Wildcats fired a 21-over 309 in the tournament's final round to close out at 59-over 923. ACU was surpassed by Northern Colorado as the Bears grabbed second place at 54-over 918 with a 12-over 300 final round. The Wildcats held off a late surge by No. 32 Baylor, who recorded its best round at 16-over 304 and finished one stroke back of the Wildcats.
Host No. 20 Texas A&M held on to a commanding lead, topping the leaderboard at 16-over 880. The Aggies carded the only round under par in the tournament by shooting 7-under 281 on Tuesday with three golfers at 2-under 70. Texas A&M's Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio won the individual title with a 2-under 214.
ACU shot second-best in the 16-team field on par 4 holes at 51-over. The Wildcats' 20 birdies tied for eighth, but their 167 pars were second and their 64 bogeys were the third-fewest.
Honea didn't score any birdies in her final round but shot on par on 15 of her 18 holes for a 3-over 75. With a 6-over 222 overall, the San Angelo product shot in the top five on par 3s and par 4s and tied for 10th on par 5s alongside Jiyu Han. Honea led ACU with five birdies and recorded the most pars in the field with 39.
Julia Vollmer followed Honea in a tie for 23rd place at 18-over 234, good for her best finish in her last four tournaments. She matched her score from Monday's second round with a 7-over 79 while tying for ninth place on par 4s at 7-over. Vollmer's 34 pars tied for 10th.
Like Vollmer, Han matched her second round score on Tuesday with an 8-over 80 and one birdie. Han wrapped up in a tie for 25th at 19-over 235 while tying for 10th on par 5s at 1-over. Her 34 pars tied for 10th-most with Vollmer.
Sydney Williams backed up Han in a tie for 30th place at 20-over 236 following a 7-over 78 final round. Williams was one of the top golfers in the field on par 3s, tying for second at even par. Vollmer, Han and Williams each tallied four birdies.
Kate Pickrell fired her best round of the tournament and logged the second-best score by a Wildcat on Tuesday at 4-over 76. She rose 14 spots on the leaderboard to a tie for 43rd at 25-over 241.
With the regular season complete, ACU returns to action at the WAC Championship at Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Ariz. from April 14-16. In their inaugural campaign last season, the Wildcats finished in second place while Honea captured the individual title.
