The Abilene Christian softball team begins the season's longest stretch of home games with a three-game WAC series versus the Utah Tech Trailblazers on Friday and Saturday.

ACU will play five games at Poly Wells Field in a six-day span. The Wildcats welcome North Texas on next Tuesday, and nationally-ranked Texas Tech on Wednesday. Both nonconference games will begin at 6 p.m.

ACU has only played three of its 32 games at home this season, but won each one with a sweep over Southern Utah on March 14-15. Lina Russo threw a no-hitter in the opening game of the SUU series and was subsequently named WAC Pitcher of the Week for her performance.


Last Week

• The Wildcats bounced back to win the series finale at UTA last Saturday.
• The Wildcats and Mavericks played a 14-inning marathon opening game where Russo threw all 203 pitches, and Ari Maxwell went 5-for-6 at the plate. It was the second-longest game in program history.
• In ACU's 4-1 win last Saturday, Audrey Lacina drove in Taylor Bachmeyer twice, and Ella Beeman and Russo combined to hold UTA to five hits.

• Audrey Lacina is tied for 1st in the WAC with three sacrifice flies this season.
• Taylor Bachmeyer is tied for 9th with 33 hits, and 5th in fewest strikeouts per game.
• Lina Russo is by far the WAC leader in innings pitched with 103.1 entering this weekend' series.
• ACU's defense is second in the WAC in double plays turned. Their total of 13 double plays is 36th most in the NCAA.

• Utah Tech is coming off a 3-2 loss at UNLV on Tuesday, but took two-of-three against Utah Valley last weekend.
• Just like the Wildcats, the Trailblazers have also been swept by Seattle U and lost two-out-of-three to UT Arlington.

• Utah Tech leads the overall series 5-1 with the Trailblazers winning three games in 2023, and two-of-three in 2024.
