Box Score ABILENE — ACU ran its winning streak to five matches Saturday with a 6-1 win over Tyler Junior College in men's tennis action at the Teague Special Events Center.
After an 0-4 start to the season, the Wildcats have rebounded with this five-match win streak, including Saturday's win over a dominant junior college program. Tyler JC is the defending junior college national champion, the 18th men's national championship in program history.
But the Wildcats wasted little time grabbing the doubles point with three dominant doubles victories and capturing the match by winning five of six singles matches. Merse Deli beat Daniel Borisov in split sets at No. 3 singles, winning 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. Alejandro Verdasco defeated Doi Gashi in split sets at No. 4 singles, taking the match 6-0, 5-7, 6-4.
The Wildcats will return to action Sunday at 12 p.m. when they host Trinity University at the Teague Special Events Center.
