Box Score 2 COMMERCE -- The ACU Wildcats dropped a pair of games Friday at the Lion Invitational, falling to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and Iowa at Cain Family Field.
The Wildcats (0-7 on the season) lost to SIU-Edwardsville, 6-1, Friday morning and lost a 12-0 decision against Iowa in game that was stopped after five innings because of the run rule. ACU will be back on the field Saturday for two more games against Rutgers at 10 a.m. and Iowa at 12:15 p.m. ACU will wrap up its stay in the tournament Sunday with a 2:30 p.m. game against East Texas A&M (formerly Texas A&M-Commerce).

SIU-Edwardsville 6, ACU 1 -- The Cougars wasted no time taking the lead, scoring four times in the bottom of the first inning, with only one run scoring on an SIUE base hit. Kaylin Fahy and Piper Montgomeeruy reached when they were hit by a
Chase Mueller pitch with the bases loaded, driving in the game's first two runs. Raegan Duncan added an RBI single, and Jena Little drove in a run on a fielder's choice. ACU got on the board in the top of the fourth when
Emalee Romero scored on a single by
Taylor Haywood. But the Cougars tacked on two more runs in the botton of the fourth to put the game away. Mueller went the distance in the circle for ACU, and pitched well after the first inning. She went six innings, allowing just five hits and four earned runs while striking out three Cougars.
Iowa 12, ACU 0 -- The Lady Hawkeyes broke open a scoreless game in the top of the third Friday afternoon with a six-run inning, and then tacked on three runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take a 12- 0 run-rule victory over the Wildcats. Desiree Rivera and Soo-Jin Berry each had three-run home runs in the win. ACU was limited to just one hit in the game, a fourth-inning single by
Audrey Lacina.
