ABILENE – The ACU men's basketball team is once again partnering with Coaches vs. Cancer to take part in Suits and Sneakers Week, a nationwide initiative uniting basketball coaches in the fight against cancer.
As part of the initiative, the ACU coaching staff will wear custom ACU sneakers during their game on Thursday, January 30, at California Baptist, airing on ESPN+, to raise awareness for cancer research. The week-long event encourages coaches to wear sneakers with their suits to highlight the importance of early detection and cancer prevention while showing solidarity with those affected by the disease.
In addition to participating on the court, ACU men's basketball is launching a special sneaker auction to raise funds for cancer research. Bidding is currently open, and fans will have the opportunity to bid on custom ACU sneakers in sizes 9, 9.5, 11.5, 12.5, and 15. Bidding on these shoes will close at 4 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, February 2. To place a bid, fans can email drk23a@acu.edu or DM any ACU Basketball social media on Instagram, X or Facebook.
In a strong commitment to the cause, Head Coach Brette Tanner will personally match every winning bid, up to $1,000, doubling the impact of the fundraiser.
Suits and Sneakers Week is an annual event designed to raise awareness of the fight against cancer and remind communities of the importance of early detection, healthy lifestyle choices and support for those battling the disease. ACU is proud to continue its partnership with Coaches vs. Cancer and encourages all Wildcat fans to participate in this meaningful cause.
