Box Score DALLAS - The ACU men's tennis team earned its first victory of the spring season during a pair of matches on Saturday.
The Wildcats lost to host SMU 6-1 in the morning, then followed with a 5-2 win over Midwestern State in the evening.
ACU now holds a 1-4 team record this spring.

Merse Deli defeated Jerry Barton / Maks Silagy, 6-4, and
Benjamin McDonald /
Matheus Lima finished off Ofek Shimanov / Xavier Calvelo, 6-2.
SMU swept the six singles matches. Deli pushed his opponent - Louis Cloud - to a tiebreaker in the second set, but ended up losing 6-1, 7-5.
ACU 5, Midwestern State 2
In the nightcap against Midwestern State, which is ranked No. 19 in Division II, the Wildcats came out with back-to-back wins in the doubles session.
Morozov / Deli made quick work with a 6-1 victory, while

Alejandro Verdasco outlasted MSU's Killian Gullou / Justin Van Amerongen 7-6 [7-4] to earn the point for ACU.
In singles competition, Verdasco finished his match first with a 6-2, 6-4 straight set win over Juan Duque.
Morozov and Deli also swept their singles opponents. At the #3 singles position,
Tomas Tischner rallied to defeat Stephen Slocombe in a third set tiebreaker to 10 -- 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 [10-5].

ACU begins a stretch of seven straight home matches on Saturday, Jan. 25 against Lubbock Christian at the Judi and Cecil Eager Tennis Pavilion. First serve is set for 11 a.m. The Wildcats will also host
UTRGV, Hardin-Simmons, Tyler Junior College, Trinity, Lamar and UT Arlington.
