ABILENE – Abilene Christian continues its men's tennis season this weekend with a home match on Friday against Texas-Arlington and a Sunday match at Grand Canyon.

ACU Storylines
REMATCH: Texas-Arlington at ACU met in last season's WAC Championship with the Mavericks getting the win in Arlington.
 
MORE AWARDS: The Western Athletic Conference on Tuesday selected Abilene Christian doubles partners Daniel Morozov and Cesar Barranquero for its Men's Doubles Team of the Week. Morozov and Barranquero their match on the number one doubles court over Seattle's Jun Sasagawa/Filip Stipic 6-2. The pair helped the Wildcats take the doubles point as all three doubles matches ended in a 6-2 victory for Abilene Christian. This is the third time Morozov has won the award. The previous two were with Dario Kmet as his partner. Morozov also has won the WAC honor as a singles player. It is Barranquero's first award of the season. ACU has claimed WAC weekly awards six times in doubles and three times in singles.
 
LAST MATCH: ACU gutted out a 4-3 win at Seattle on Saturday when Martin Delnido completed the five-hour match with a three-set win at No. 6 singles. Merse Deli was the lone Wildcat to get wins in both singles and doubles.
 
MARTIN STREAK: Martin Delnido has the longest current winning streak in singles. The freshman has won his last four matches. That streak gives him the lead in singles wins this season at eight.
 
INJURY SWITCH: ACU has won nine matches despite a rash of injuries and illness this season. Every singles court has seen at least three different Wildcats this season.
 
STILL THE MAN: Daniel Morozov leads the team with five wins at No. 1 singles. He also has the team lead with 14 singles wins this season when the fall tournament matches are included.
 
DELIS: Merse and Mihaly Deli are 9-0 as a doubles team, including an 8-0 mark at No. 3. Mihaly is nursing an ankle sprain that forced him to retire from his singles match on Saturday.
 
HISTORY: ACU has lost three of the last four matches in the series with UT Arlington. The lone win was the only match played in Abilene, a 4-3 ACU victory in 2022. The Wildcats have won the last four matches against GCU, including a 4-1 win in the WAC Tournament and a 5-2 win in Abilene last season. This will be ACU's first trip to GCU.
 
Scouting UT Arlington
  • UTA is 7-7 overall and 1-0 in the conference after a 4-3 win at home over Grand Canyon on Saturday.
  • The Mavericks are 0-2 in road games this season.
  • Andres Medus has a team-leading eight singles wins this season, including a 4-2 mark at No. 5 singles. He has won his last three matches.
  • Dante Teramo and Joan Torres Espinosa have five doubles wins to pace the Mavericks this season. They are 4-4 at No. 1 doubles.
 
Scouting GCU
  • The Lopes are 6-12 overall and 1-1 in the WAC. They won 5-2 at UT Rio Grande and lost 4-3 at UT Arlington last week.
  • GCU is 2-4 at home this season.
  • David Wakesa has a team-leading 10-4 singles record and has won his last seven matches. He is 9-2 on Court 3.
  • Wakesa and Gerhard Sullwald are 9-6 this season in doubles – all on Court 1.
