Stotler Transfers to ACU from Rutgers

ABILENE – Abilene Christian volleyball announced the transfer of Rutgers middle blocker Sasha Stotler.

Stotler, a 6-4 redshirt sophomore, is from Quincy, Ohio. She earned Academic All-Big 10 and has been on the dean's list three times. She played in 19 matches and averaged 1.1 kills and 0.43 blocks per set. She had nine kills three times in a match, including a nine-kill, four-block outing against The Citadel.

"We are so excited to be adding Sasha to our 2024 roster," said ACU Head Coach Ijeoma Moronu Alstrup. "Transferring in from the Big 10, one of the absolute best volleyball conferences in college volleyball, Sasha will be able to contribute immediately to the team. Not only will Sasha add to our size in the front row, she has been the perfect fit for ACU since our very first conversation. We are lucky to be adding her volleyball skills to the team but also lucky to be adding such an intelligent and ambitious student-athlete. She is driven, kind, and will be a huge asset to the team both on and off the court."

At Riverside High School, Stotler received the Pirate Excellence Award, made the 4.0 Honor Roll all four years and was a member of the National Honor Society.

On the court, she earned 2021 AVCA Honorable Mention All-American and All-Region and first-team All-Conference, All-Area and All-District. A team captain, she had 340 kills a .300 hitting percentage, 85 total blocks, 53 aces and 70 digs as a senior before being selected for the District 9 Senior All-Star team. She also played with Elite Volleyball Training Center and finished ninth at the AAU Nationals.

"I chose ACU for the values of the university, the support of the community around it and the staff and players on the team," Stotler said. "While on campus I was blown away by the relationships the players have with one another and other members of the community. I feel it is an environment where I can become the best player and version of myself in."

The daughter of Angie Stotler and Justin Stotler, Sasha volunteers with Saturdays in Motion and the American Red Cross.
