Cats Drop Two at UTEP Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 EL PASO – Sammie Shelander had a pair of multi-hit games but Abilene Christian dropped two games in UTEP's Dr. Diana Natalicio Tournament on Friday, falling to Central Michigan and UTEP.

ACU lost the opener to Central Michigan, 10-1, before losing to UTEP, 4-1.

The Wildcats got their run against CMU in the fifth inning when Miranda Lista doubled and later scored on an error.

ACU collected five hits in the game, including two by Shelander. Shelander, Lista and Olivia Marble each had a double.

Emma Beeman took the loss in the circle for the Cats.

UTEP scored all four of its runs in the first two innings and held on for the win. ACU scored a run in the third inning when Skylar Padgett singled and scored on a two-out double by Shelander.

Shelander again had two hits with Avery Miloch adding a double. Lina Russo went the distance and sustained the loss in the circle. She had four strikeouts.

The Wildcats play two games at New Mexico State on Saturday, beginning at 3 p.m. Central.
