Box Score 2 COMMERCE – Abilene Christian left Commerce with a three-game winning streak in hand after sweeping the Lions 5-1 and 6-2 on Monday.
ACU got on the board right away in the opener with an RBI single by
Sammie Shelander and a run-scoring passed ball for a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
Commerce got its run in the third but ACU responded with two in the top of the fourth on solo home runs by
Avery Miloch and
Rachel Cook.
Bubba Rote scored on a squeeze by
Skylar Padgett in the seventh for the final margin.
ACU had nine hits in the game, led by
Olivia Marble with a double and two singles and
Kaydee Bennett with a pair of base hits. Cook also had a single to go with her home run.
Lina Russo went the distance in the circle for the win, striking out five batters.
ACU scored twice in the first inning again in the second game. Bennett homered to center field and Miloch added an RBI single.
Miloch added a two-run home run in the third for a 4-1 lead.
Padgett and Cook added back-to-back home runs in the sixth for the 6-1 lead.
The Cats had 10 hits, led by Marble with three and Bennett and Miloch with two each.
Ella Beeman got the win, allowing two runs over seven innings while striking out two.
ACU returns to action this weekend with a three-game set at Sam Houston.
