ABILENE – The Abilene Christian University (ACU) cross country teams are headed to Orem, Utah, for the 2024 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships, hosted by Utah Valley University. The event starts on Friday, November 1, with the women's 6K race starting at 11 a.m. (C.T.), followed by the men's 8K at 11:45 a.m. (C.T.).
Last season, the Wildcats raced on their home course in Abilene, with the men's team placing 8th and the women's team finishing 9th. Senior Kevin Castruita led the men's squad with an impressive 18th-place finish, earning him second-team All-WAC honors. This season, ACU aims to build on those results with a determined team looking to secure a bid to regionals.
Momentum is strong, especially after Andruw Villa's record-breaking performance last week, adding depth and excitement to the Wildcats' lineup. ACU is eager to perform well and clinch a bid to the NCAA South Central Regional in College Station, Texas.
