
Wildcats head to PGA National for final tournament of fall season

ABILENE, Texas — ACU will conclude the fall portion of their schedule starting on Monday as they head to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida for the FAU Invitational.
What Happened Last Time at the Trinity Forest Invitational
The Wildcats finished 11th out of 15 teams at the Trinity Forest Invitational, shooting 2-over par in three rounds of action.
UNLV finished the tournament in first shooting 34-under par, and other teams in the field included Loyola Marymount, host SMU, USC, Louisiana, Furman, San Francisco, North Texas, Rice and Louisiana Tech. Teams in the field that the 'Cats were able to beat out included NC State, UTRGV, UT Arlington and UTSA.
Jaime Lewis led all Wildcats shooting 5-under par through the whole weekend, good to be in the top 25 and to have the ninth-best score in the tournament.
Preston DeFriend had the second-best finish of the 'Cats, shooting 2-over par through the tournament. As for the rest of the 'Cats, Preston Cooper finished the tournament shooting 4-over par while Trenton Johnson shot 9-over par through the three rounds. Jack Hollingsed rounded out the team shooting 7-over par.
Individually, Colin Leonard also had a strong showing. He finished in the top 40 shooting 1-over par through the tournament. His tournament best was in the second round where he shot 1-under par.
The Lineup Heading to Palm Beach Gardens
ACU will be sending six golfers to compete at the FAU Invitational, five competing in team play and one individual.
The five qualifying for team play includes Preston Cooper, Thomas Buisson, Colin Leonard, Jack Hollingsed and Jaime Lewis.
Brian Comegys will be traveling to Florida but will be competing individually.
Up Next at the PGA National Resort
The Wildcats will begin play in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, at the PGA National Resort from October 28 to 29.
ACU will see three rounds of actions beginning on Monday on the Champions Course, one of the hardest courses at PGA National. The 7,048-yard course with par set at 72 has also hosted several PGA tour championships.
The 'Cats are one in the 12-team field that will compete at the tournament. Other teams include tournament hosts, Florida Atlantic, Central Florida, Toledo, Central Arkansas, North Alabama, Temple, UAB, Stetson, South Florida, Seton Hall and Jacksonville State.
Tournament play on Monday will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT, with ACU being paired with Central Arkansas, Stetson and Jacksonville State. Brian Comegys will be paired with individuals from Florida Atlantic, the University of Florida and Stetson.
