Kirk, Burleson Compete in West Regional

SACRAMENTO – Abilene Christian saw two more events finish the season on Thursday with Zoe Burleson and Payton Kirk not moving forward in the shot put and long jump.

Kirk, a senior, placed 36th in the long jump at 5.89 meters for her last collegiate competition.

Burleson was 41st in the shot put at 14.77 meters.

The ACU men take the state on Friday with Nathanial Collier throwing the discus at 3 p.m. Central and Jack Marshall competing in the 200 meters and 9:50 p.m.

Burleson still has the discus remaining on Saturday at 3 p.m. Central and Ella Anttila closes things out for ACU in Sacramento with the triple jump at 8 p.m.

"It's so bittersweet to see seniors compete in their last event," said ACU Head Coach Jerrod Cook of Kirk. "As a coach, you wish it could go on forever. But it is so exciting to see them compete and the national preliminary level and to know that there are greater things ahead for them in the next chapter of their lives."
