"You just hurt for them, obviously," said ACU Head Coach Juan Nunez of his team. "These guys have spent a lot of sweat and effort to get here. They got me and my family out of some tough straits. They rekindled the fire that is hard not to have when you're around this group. They are a joy to coach. They've raised the expectation of the program to where losing in the championship is a disappointment. Just to get to this stage back-to-back years is tough to do. And with all the adversity with injuries for them to have done what they've done is incredible and I'm just extremely proud of them. UTA is a great team and they earned every bit of it."
Â
The Wildcats finished the season at 14-11.
