STARKVILLE, Miss.–
Riley White put together her best pitching performance of the season and the Wildcats came from behind to earn the 3-2 walk off win over Dartmouth on Sunday morning.
Talia Nielsen gave up an early two-run homer and was pulled in favor of White who went the rest of the way and held the Big Green to just four hits over 6.1 innings. The offense came through late as Sadie Eichelberger drove home the winning run to put ACU back in the win column.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After retiring the first batter of the day, Nielsen gave up a double and then a homerun as Dartmouth took the 2-0 lead. She was able to record one more out but after another single and a walk, White entered in relief.
- The Wildcats were able to get one back in the bottom of the first as Sammie Shelander came through with an RBI single to bring home Miranda Lista.
- After a scoreless second inning, the Wildcats tied the game with an RBI double from Sydney Kaiser with Lista coming into score once again.
- Mckenley Clark came away with a clutch pinch-hit single with one out in the bottom of the seventh and was followed by a pinch-hit single for Bubba Rote, pushing Clark to third.
- Eichelberger came through with another single that brought home Clark and walked it off for the Wildcats.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Lista recorded her team-leading sixth multi-hit game of the year.
- Shelander's RBI was her 13th of the year, the most for the Wildcats this season.
- White matched a season-high with four strikeouts in her appearance. She also earned her second win of the year. It was her first appearance, longer than two innings, where she gave up zero earned runs.
- The Wildcats finished the game with zero fielding errors, their first such game since their game against South Dakota State on Feb. 18.
ON DECK:
- The Wildcats will be back on the road next weekend at Grand Canyon where they will face the Lopes and Colorado State as part of the GCU Invitational.
