Wildcats return home to open WAC play

ABILENE – The Wildcats return home for the first time since opening weekend as they host Utah Tech to open WAC play. Abilene Christian sits at 6-20 on the year and is coming off a rough weekend in Phoenix where they went 0-5. The team competed with well with Colorado State and Grand Canyon but could not come away with a win. Last season the Wildcats went 15-9 in conference play to earn a berth to the WAC tournament and are hoping they can turn the season around with another successful season in the WAC. Utah Tech comes into the weekend with a 15-9 record and will be a tough test for ACU out of the gate.

ACU STORYLINES

• Mercedes Eichelberger leads the Wildcats with 25 hits, a .316 batting average, and a .421 on-base percentage. The senior leads the WAC with eight HBP on the season. 
• Avery Miloch is leading the team with 13 extra-base hits, seven doubles and six homeruns, and leads the way with a .644 slugging percentage.
• The Wildcats have a 7.21 ERA as a team with Talia Nielsen leading the way with a 5.75 ERA. 

SCOUTING UTAH TECH (15-9, 0-0 WAC)

• The Trailblazers are coming off a 2-2 weekend and a midweek loss to BYU at home. UT has compiled an 8-2 record at home, a 4-6 neutral site record, and a 3-1 mark in road games. 
• Utah Tech is hitting .307 as a team with Tanya Windle and Lauren Almeida leading the team with .443 and .439 batting averages, respectivley. Windle leads the team with 35 hits and Almeida leads the way with 19 RBI. 
• The pitching staff holds a 3.20 ERA with Sauren Garten leading the team with a 2.35 ERA.
