Kaiser knocks in two at ULM

MONROE, La.– The Wildcats battled in another tough road game on Wednesday night as they came up just short, 5-4, at ULM. ACU scored four runs on five hits but also left five runners on. After ACU had an early three-run lead, the Warhawks put up three runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game and push the momentum back in their favor. ULM was able to tie the game again in the bottom of the fourth and tack on the winning run in the bottom of the sixth.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After a scoreless first, a leadoff walk from Shaylee Alani got the Wildcats on base to start the second. A sac bunt moved her into scoring position and a single got Alani to third. Another walk loaded the bases and Sydney Kaiser registered the RBI single to bring Alani home.
  • Mercedes Eichelberger followed Kaiser with a sac fly to bring home another run and push the ACU lead to 2-0.
  • Avery Miloch singled to leadoff the third inning and after a sac bunt to mover her into scoring position, Alani singled to bring her home.
  • ULM answered in the bottom of the third scoring one run on an errant throw home, one run on a wild pitch, and one on an RBI single to even the game at 3-3.
  • Kaiser launched a solo homerun to left in the top of the fourth to regain the lead for the Wildcats.
  • The Warhawks loaded the bases on three singles in the bottom of the fourth and scored on a groundout RBI to tie the game once again.
  • ULM drove in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth on a single down the left field line.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Catrin Hoffman extended her hitting streak to six games with a single in the third inning.
  • Kaiser's homer in the fourth inning was her second of the year. It is her third career homerun.
  • Olivia Taylor snagged her second stolen base of the season, the Wildcats are now 10-15 on stolen bases as a team.

ON DECK:
  • The Wildcats continue east as they head to Starkville, Miss. for The Snowman Tournament hosted by Mississippi State. The team will begin play at 3 p.m. Friday and will face the hosts as well as Dartmouth and Murray State.
