ACU Golf announces 2022-23 schedule

ABILENE, Texas – The ACU men's golf program and head coach Tom Shaw announced the 2022-23 schedule on Monday, and the Wildcats are set for four tournaments this fall. The Purple and White will have six spring tournaments in seven states before looking to defend their WAC Championship in Nevada in late April.

"Our schedule is a reflection of how far our program has come the last few years, and it provides our team with some familiar venues but also introduces us to some of the top ranked tournaments in the country," Shaw said. "It is an ambitious schedule, but I believe our program is positioned to rise to this challenge and compete well against the nationally-ranked programs that we will face.

For the third consecutive season, the Wildcats will open the fall season at Louisiana Tech's Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, and the tournament is set to begin on Sept. 11 in Choudrant, La. Two weeks later, the Purple and White head to the JT Poston Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina on Sept. 26-27.

October begins at the SMU Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas on Oct. 2, and the fall campaign wraps up in Arkansas at the Little Rock Invitational on Oct. 17, where the Wildcats took sixth place as a team last fall.

ACU starts the spring season at the Bayou Intercollegiate (Rice) on Feb. 20 before heading to the Cabo Collegiate on March 5. The following week sees the 'Cats make the trip to Phoenix for the GCU Invitational, and the Purple and White close out March at the All-American hosted by the University of Houston.

The WAC Champs make their way to the Mississippi State Intercollegiate in Starkville on April 3 and close out the regular season at Ohio State's Robert Kepler Invitational on April 21.

"Squire Creek, Trinity Forest, and Chenal CC, all courses we will play this fall, are some of the best designed courses in the South. We are also adding a new event this year at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley, beautifully tucked into the mountains of North Carolina," Shaw said. "The spring semester will represent the best schedule we've ever put together in the D1 era, with stops at venues hosted by SEC, BIG 10, and BIG 12 programs. The highlight of the spring might be our trip down to the Cabo Collegiate, regarded by many as the best tournament in college golf."

ACU returns to the Silver State in late April, as the defending league champions will look to build on a historical spring at the WAC Championships in Boulder City.
