ABILENE, Texas – The ACU Department of Athletics welcomes the addition of veteran marketing professional Quintin Payton as Associate Athletics Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement.
Payton joins ACU from Big XII and in-state rival TCU, where he served as Assistant Director of Marketing for the last three years. He brings with him a decade of athletics marketing experience with previous stops at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Jacksonville University and the University of West Florida.
"I feel unbelievably blessed for the opportunity to join the Abilene Christian University family. I want to thank Zack Lassiter, Vice President for Athletics and Steve Harrell, Deputy AD for External Operations, for offering me the opportunity to join their team," Payton said. "I am thrilled to serve our student-athletes and coaches in an environment where excellence is part of the culture as an institution."
Over the last three years in Fort Worth, Payton was primarily responsible for marketing and event presentation for the Horned Frogs baseball, beach volleyball, indoor volleyball and track and field programs. He played a major role in home football games where he served as the on-field coordinator and led the coordination of Frog Alley, the unique tailgating experience for football fans and students. He also assisted with the creation of the "Frogball USA" branding for TCU baseball. Payton played a pivotal role in helping break attendance records for multiple sports and helped the baseball program consistently rank in the top 10 nationally in attendance.
"One of our primary goals for the future of ACU Athletics is to create fun, family friendly, engaging experiences for students, alumni, fans and the community at all our home events. Quintin was a perfect fit for this role based on his marketing experience at multiple institutions, Lassiter said. "His passion and ability to execute comprehensive marketing initiatives will allow us to show immediate growth in these critical areas."
Payton had two stops at former Southland Conference opponent Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where he led all marketing efforts for the 16 Division I sports focusing on enhancing the game day experience. He oversaw the direction of the pep band, spirit squads, student section, kids club, and the marketing internship program.
In between his Corpus Christi bookends, Payton spent one year at Jacksonville University (DI-FCS) as Director of Marketing and three years at Division II University of West Florida as the Marketing and Sales Coordinator and the Marketing and Sales Graduate Assistant - where he managed marketing and corporate sponsorships as the university added football.
"I can't wait to get started and continue to help elevate our game day experience for our students, alumni and fans," Payton said. "We will make every effort to provide memorable experiences that will create talking points and draw more of the Abilene community to support our programs."
A native of San Antonio, Quintin received his Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology with a minor in marketing from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and his Master's Degree in Strategic Communication and Leadership from the University of West Florida.
