Choe’s 6-under helps ACU close gap, ‘Cats four back heading to Sunday

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – After working their way into the top pairing group on Friday, the ACU golf team turned in the best team performance at the WAC Championship on Saturday, scoring 10-under for the day to slide into second place. Brian Choe birdied five of his final six holes en route to posting a single-round score of 66, the best of any individual in the field.

Francisco Osio came up with three late birdies for the Purple and White, and the Wildcats have now posted 41 for the weekend. Alex Clouse remains the clubhouse leader at 7-under, while Choe's big Saturday afternoon has put him at 5-under and ties him for second place heading into the final round of competition.

"This is where we want to be. Any competitor wants to be playing with the leaders in the last round, but it doesn't change our approach. Today saw a sign of the firepower we have on the back nine, and that was impressive to watch," head coach Tom Shaw said. "Our seniors have done it all except win a conference championship. Sam Houston is where they are for a reason, and we are going to have to play a great round tomorrow, but our guys will be ready and we are excited."
