ACU games on the air waves on 102.7 FM The Bear

ABILENE – The Abilene Christian athletic department has announced a partnership with 102.7 FM The Bear to air football, men's and women's basketball, and select spring events throughout not only the 2021-22 season, but for the next three years. Beginning Saturday, Sept. 4 with the football season opener at SMU, fans can now listen to athletic events on 102.7 FM The Bear on the dial, online, and on the iHeart Radio app.

In January, ACU made a temporary transition from 98.1 The Ticket to 102.7 The Bear, and this summer it was confirmed as a permanent move. For the next three years, all Wildcat sporting events will air on "The Best Classic Rock in Abilene."

There will still be the same ways to listen to Wildcat athletics: A combination of Zach Carlyle, Grant Boone, and Andy Penney will cover the sporting events on 102.7 The Bear. For the 2021 football season, ACU Hall-of-Famer Jim Reese will join those three on the broadcast. Carlyle, Boone, and Penney will also call basketball games, dividing duties depending on scheduling. Select spring events will also get air time on the new home of Wildcat sports.

The football broadcast schedule is as follows:
  • Sept. 4 at SMU - Zach Carlyle, Jim Reese
  • Sept. 11 vs. Louisiana College - Grant Boone, Jim Reese
  • Sept. 18 vs. UTPB - Andy Penney, Jim Reese
  • Sept. 25 at Lamar - Zach Carlyle, Jim Reese
  • Oct. 2 vs. Central Arkansas - Grant Boone, Jim Reese
  • Oct. 9 at Eastern Kentucky - Zach Carlyle, Jim Reese
