ABILENE -- First Team Southland Conference defensive tackle
Quent Titre Tuesday was named to the league's All-Academic Team for the first time in his career.
Student-Athlete of the Year awards are presented by GEICO.
A junior from Missouri City, Texas, Titre has a +3.5 GPA and is currently enrolled in ACU's Bachelor of Business Administration degree program majoring in information systems.
Titre plans to pursue a master's in business administration (MBA) in addition to having a career in the NFL. His desired career field includes working as a database administrator, cybersecurity analyst or information systems manager.
"Quent is a person who takes care of his business," said Titre's position coach
Travis Britz. "He comes ready to work and is prepared to learn. He lives by ACU Football's core values: Selfless, Tough, and Disciplined.
"Although quiet in nature, Quent plays with a lot of passion and truly loves the game. The best quality of Quent is his intrinsic motivation to become the best version of himself in all aspects of his life. He holds himself to a high standard."
This past fall Titre played in all six games and totaled 27 tackles (7 solo, 20 assists) with two tackles for loss (-3 yards) in being named all-conference. The year prior (12 games) he came through with 15 tackles (2.0 TFL), a sack and two quarterback hurries.
Off the field, Titre is a two-year member of the football team's leadership council and following the 2019 season was awarded a spot on the league's Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Titre and his teammates kick off their 2021 season Saturday, Sept. 3 at SMU.
Southland Conference All-Academic Teams are voted upon by the head coach, sports information director and an academic/compliance staff member from each school. Student-Athletes of the Year are voted upon by an awards committee which consists of one administrator from each member school. Voting for one's own athletes is not permitted.
To be eligible for all-academic distinction, an athlete must hold a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA through the semester prior to the sport's championship, completed at least one full academic year at the nominating school prior to the current season, and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions during the most recently completed season.
