Wildcats host four-team WAC Pod Weekend

ABILENE - The Wildcats return home to host one of three WAC pods this weekend where they will face Dixie State and California Baptist from the West Division. The weekend will feature four total matches in the Teague Center with Tarleton facing each of the teams from out west as well. This will be the first action ACU sees outside of their division in the WAC and will feature their first-ever meeting with the Lancers and their second meeting with Trailblazers, the first as DI opponents.

ACU STORYLINES

  • Madison Rohre continues to lead the WAC in assists per set, averaging 10.47 per set.
  • Lindsey Toney is ranked second in the WAC with 4.71 kills per set which is good for ninth in the NCAA. She is coming off a 25-kill performance against Tarleton last weekend where she averaged 8.33 kills per set. 
  • Madison Lawler is leading the Wildcats with 4.49 digs per set and ranks fifth in the WAC in the category. 
  • Emily Van Dyke has been a consistent force for ACU in recent matches, totaling at least eight kills in four-straight, while also hitting .200 or better in three of the four. 
  • Brea Box is leading the Wildcats in hitting percentage at .324 on the year, ranking eighth in the WAC. 

SCOUTING THE TRAILBLAZERS

  • Dixie State is coming off of an 0-2 weekend, dropping two matches to in-state foe Utah Valley. The Trailblazers fell 3-2 at home and were swept in Orem. 
  • Whitnee Nihipali and Hannah Howard lead DSU with 119 and 118 kills, respectively, and are the only two Trailblazers with 100 or more kills. 
  • Libero Mykenna Nelson is averaging 4.57 digs per set and surpassed 1,000 career digs last weekend. 
  • Kate Hardy leads the team in blocks and is just two weeks removed from earning Offensive, Defensive, and Freshman of the Week honors from the WAC. She leads the conference with 1.27 blocks per set. 

SCOUTING THE LANCERS

  • California Baptist is coming off a weekend sweep of Seattle winning in straight sets over the Redhawks last Thursday and Saturday. 
  • Paige Johnstone averaged 5.83 digs per set over last weekend earning her a Defensive Player of the Week award from the WAC. She is averaging 4.19 digs per set on the year to lead the Lancers.
  • Tesa Oaks and Christine Graf are the leading hitters for CBU with 162 and 163 kills, respectively. Graf leads the team in points averaging 3.18 per set. 
  • Chandler Gorman is leading the team in blocks with 52.0 total and 1.13 per set.
