SERIES HISTORY

This will be the 14th meeting between the schools Saturday, with ACU holding a lopsided 10-3 advantage. The Wildcats have never lost to the Lady Lions in Abilene (5-0), and have won three in a row in the series. The game is never easy though. Southeastern Louisiana has always given ACU fits. The Wildcats won both matchups last season by eight and six points, and lost by three two years ago. Four of the last five meetings have been decided by an average of four points. The teams first met in a tournament in Fort Worth in 1979, with SLU winning.

ACU STORYLINES

  • GREAT START: The Wildcats are off to a stellar 8-2 start, and come in receiving votes in the College Insider Mid Major Top 25 poll.
  • DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE: Senior Alyssa Adams has recorded four double-doubles this season, including in each of the last three games (vs. UAB, at Stetson, at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi). The San Antonio native has seven for her career. She becomes the third Division I player for the Wildcats to record three consecutive double-doubles. Suzzy Dimba did so on Jan. 22, 24, and 26 in 2015, and Sydney Shelstead followed up a month later, on Feb. 21, 25, and 28. Adams is averaging 25.3 points and 11.0 rebounds over the last three games.
  • ANOTHER SOUTHLAND PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Adams has earned herself a second Southland Conference Player of the Week award on Jan. 11 after the double-double against Corpus Christi. Her first award came on Dec. 21 after her performance in Florida. ACU now has four for such awards this season. Redshirt senior Anna McLeod won back-to-back Southland Conference Players of the Week awards on Dec. 7 & 14.
  • HISTORIC STRETCH: Alyssa Adams has scored 20 or more points in three straight games for ACU (26 vs. UAB, 24 vs. Stetson, 28 vs. Corpus Christi). She joines Anna McLeod as the only players this season to do so (Anna scored 23 vs. Midwestern State, 22 vs. UTPB, and 28 vs. Northern Colorado). There are only three other Wildcats in the D1 era (2013) to do so. Sydney Shelstead scored 63 points in three games in Jan. 2016. Alexis Mason scored 82 points in three games in Jan. 2017. Breanna Wright scored 20+ in five straight games to end the 2019-20 season (115 points in five games).
  • COACH GOODENOUGH'S MILESTONES: Head coach Julie Goodenough earned her 460th career win UT Permain, and now has a 465 wins in her hall-of-fame career and 176 with ACU.
  • SHARP SHOOTERS: ACU's 290 three-point field goals attempted rank eighth nationally, while the 109 three-pointers made rank third in the country.
