Softball set to open 2020 at Aggie Classic

ABILENE, Texas—The Wildcats begin their 2020 campaign this weekend with a trip to College Station as part of the Aggie Classic. The team will play four games over Saturday and Sunday as they look to bounce back from a down season a year ago. With a new coaching staff and a new game plan, the Wildcats are ready to get their first game action underway.

Aggie Classic Schedule
2/8 vs Texas A&M 12 p.m.
2/8 vs UT Arlington 4:30 p.m.
2/9 vs UT Arlington 10 a.m.
2/9 vs Texas A&M 12:15 p.m.

Same players, new game
The Wildcats return all of their letterwinners from a season ago bringing in just four freshman and one sophomore transfer. With Abigail Farler in her first season as the head coach for ACU she has new goals and a new style of play that she is excited for teams to see as the season gets under way.

"We are excited to start our season playing at a great complex against two great programs," explained Farler. "Starting the season against a Power 5 team is great for our program. We are looking forward to finally being able to play as a unit this weekend. One thing that is really exciting for our program is that there is no real scouting report on anything we are going to be doing this year. This is a new program with a new identity and we are ready to play with confidence."

The competition
ACU starts their weekend facing the home team, Texas A&M. This will be the first meeting between the programs and one of several Power 5 matchups for the Wildcats going forward. The team will also face UT Arlington who holds a 4-3 advantage against ACU in previous games. The Aggies and the Mavericks will each have two games under their belts coming into Saturday as the programs played a doubleheader Friday night to start the tournament. The Aggies came away with a 2-0 win in the first outing while the Mavericks put up several runs early on A&M in the second game.

How to watch
Both Texas A&M games will be available through watch ESPN via the SEC Network+. All other games will have available live stats on the Aggie's website.
