ABILENE - The top JUCO squad in the nation and 13th-ranked DIII men's tennis team visit Abilene Christian Saturday for a doubleheader vs. the Wildcats on the indoor courts of the Teague Events Center.
Tyler Junior College, which boasts a No. 1 ITA team ranking in addition to having its starting six singles players all situated among the top 30, takes on ACU at 9 a.m. The Wildcats' night cap vs. the 13th-ranked Trinity Tigers will start at 5 p.m.
The Tigers claim the 10th-ranked doubles team, which is composed of 11th-ranked Cameron Krimbill and No. 21 Jordan Pitts. All three of Tyler's doubles tandems are ranked among the top 16, according to ITA pollsters.
For the Wildcats, they are led at the top by senior
Jonathan Sheehy, who received a No. 83 DI singles ranking earlier this week.
Since ACU made its jump to DI, the Wildcats' are 4-2 vs. the Tigers and 2-3 vs. TJC. The Wildcats swept last year's twin bill vs. these same schools by scores of 7-0 (vs. Trinity) and 5-2 (Tyler).
ACU's women's team continues its road swing Sunday with a doubleheader in Northern Oklahoma. The Wildcats first battle Oral Roberts, against whom they're 5-0 all-time, at 9 a.m. followed by a 1 p.m. vs. Tulsa. ACU has not faced the Golden Hurricane since joining the DI ranks in 2014.
The Wildcats are off to a 2-3 start following last week's 6-1 win at UTEP. Sarah Adams and Claire Fisher are tied for the team lead with three singles victories apiece.
