Women's Basketball opens Teague season Wednesday

ABILENE - FINALLY. After a 263-day wait, the 2020-21 college basketball begins Wednesday. FINALLY. It feels longer than 263 days. After the longest off-season in recent memory, the season begins under so many unusual circumstances. Never mind COVID-19. That's always on people's minds. How about a renovation to Moody Coliseum that will put the 2020-21 season in the Teague Special Events Center? Why not! Basketball is back. And the ACU women will begin their season on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. when they welcome the Howard Payne Lady Jackets from Brownsville, Texas.

ACU STORYLINES

  • ACU brings new talent to the forefront after graduating the top two scorers in the conference (Wright and Dominique Golightly) as well as post Lexie Ducat. The Wildcats return starters Anna McLeod and Makayla Mabry as well as Madi Miller and Alyssa Adams off the bench. The new starting lineup will be something to keep your eye on.
  • There is a lot of new talent with junior transfer Paige Emborsky and redshirt sophomore transfer Sarah Griswold. They join freshmen Katie Horyna, Taylor Morgan, Alice Stephenson, and Hannah Matthews.
  • Other key returners include senior Josie Larson and juniors Kamryn Mraz and Diamond Willcot. There is a lot of veteran talent and the floor minutes are open for the taking in 2020-21.
  • ACU opens the Teague Special Events Center as Moody Coliseum is about to undergo a renovation. It was transformed into a gorgeous playing arena for the season. However, indoor athletics events scheduled for the next two weeks will be limited to essential personnel and a limited number of players' families and guests. There will be no walk-up or single-game ticket sales.
