ABILENE - In light of yesterday's letter to community leaders from a number of healthcare professionals and business executives, Abilene Christian University is taking additional steps for the safety and well being of students, faculty and staff, as well as to help curb the spread of COVID-19 in the local community.
-
As planned, the last two weeks of the fall semester will shift to remote learning.
-
The majority of staff will work from home the week after Thanksgiving.
-
Indoor athletics events scheduled for the next two weeks will be limited to essential personnel and a limited number of players' families and guests. There will be no walk-up or single-game ticket sales. Games will be broadcast on acusports.com or ESPN+.
-
ACU is fully complying with the NCAA's requirements, which include basketball players and staff being tested three times per week.
-
All scheduled on-campus activities are being reviewed to ensure compliance with appropriate social distancing protocols and face mask requirements. Any events deemed to be high risk or that cannot achieve this requirement will be cancelled.
"We take seriously the responsibility to keep the community safe," said ACU president Dr. Phil Schubert. "We are asking all citizens to do their part to help curb the virus."
