ABILENE - Abilene Christian men's tennis won its home season opener 7-0 vs. regional rival UTRGV Saturday on the indoor courts of the Teague Special Events Center in improving to 1-2 on the season. They continue play Monday with a 3 p.m. dual at Texas Tech.
The Wildcats dropped only one set to the Vaqueros, who won their previous meeting, 4-3, back in March of 2015. Senior and nationally ranked
Jonathan Sheehy lost his first set, 6-7, to Carlo Izurieta at the No. 1 line, before storming back to claim sets two and three by scores of 6-0 and 6-1.
The remaining five Wildcats all won in straight sets and ACU's three doubles tandems won by respective scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 6-4.
