ABILENE - Abilene Christian tennis welcomes SMU and UTRGV for a series of dual matches between Saturday and Sunday at the Teague Special Events Center. The men play host to UTRGV Saturday at noon, while the women face the Vaqueros and Mustangs Sunday for a 9 a.m. / 3 p.m. twin bill. Admission is free for all matches.
Each Wildcat roster enters this homestand looking to get into the win column. The men lost a pair of duals in Norman, Okla., vs. the nationally ranked Sooners and Tennessee Volunteers, and the women fell to 0-2 after falling to strong sides from Oklahoma State and Wichita State. ACU's lone victors were freshman Claire Fisher at No. 6 vs. the Shockers and the No. 1 doubles team of
Jonathan Sheehy and
Jackson Fine vs. Tennessee.
For the UTRGV men's team, Saturday's dual is its season opener. They will then join the Wildcats Monday in Lubbock, where both teams will face the Texas Tech Red Raiders. This weekend also marks the spring lidlifters for the SMU and UTRGV women's programs.
