ABILENE -- Wildcat basketball redefined the old Abilene Christian adage of, 'ring by spring' last March when the men's and women's teams were crowned Southland Conference Champions.
Now, with their seasons just over 50 days away the push is on to crowd the coliseum as the Wildcats play host to 10 league opponents in addition to stellar non-conference foes such as Pepperdine (men), New Mexico State and Tulsa (women).
The deadline for reserving seats is Sept. 20. Fans can place their orders at ACUSports.com/Tickets or by calling or visiting the Wildcat Ticket Center (Teague Center) at 325-674-CATS (2287).
Basketball season tips off with a home doubleheader set for Tuesday, Nov. 5. The women will play host that evening to crosstown rivals McMurry followed by the men's game vs. Arlington Baptist.
Slated to be interviewed are head coaches Joe Golding and Julie Goodenough, and student-athletes Breanna Wright, Dominique Golightly, Payten Ricks and Hayden Howell. The league also will further discuss the program's NCAA experience with Athletics Director Allen Ward and Director of Alumni Relations Craig Fisher.
The air date for Abilene Christian's Southland season preview is to be determined.
Directed by ACU alumni Jordan Bunch, this 12-minute narrative features in-depth interviews with Golding, Ricks, and recent graduates Hayden Farquhar, Jaylen Franklin and Jaren Lewis. The film also goes beyond the season ledger of wins and losses, instead taking a more personal approach with its subjects as they share stories of faith, friendship and fortitude -- attributes that transformed one of the lowest ranked DII programs into March Madness qualifiers.
