Smith named Southland Goalkeeper of the Week

FRISCO – After a 2-0 weekend to start the soccer season, junior Erin Smith was named the Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week. ACU picked up wins over New Mexico State and UTEP to begin 2-0 for the first time since 2013. Freshman Natalie Jones earns an honorable mention honor on the offensive side after scoring a pair of goals in the come-from-behind win over the Miners.
Smith's Week by the Numbers
- The goalkeeper went 2-0 in net, playing all 180 minutes.
- Her six saves were key, including four in the second half against UTEP.
- Smith faced 18 shots, including 14 against the Miners.
- The six saves rank sixth in the Southland Conference through the opening weekend.
ACU's Week by the Numbers
- ACU outshot New Mexico State 14-4, including 7-2 in shots on frame.
- The Wildcats earned an 18-14 edge in shots against UTEP, including a 16-11 lead in the second half in that category.
- Jones scored the equalizer and the game-winner against the Miners, and leads the team with two scores this season.
