HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The ACU softball team (9-23, 2-13 SLC) opens a four-game road trip this weekend with a three-game series against second-place Sam Houston State (20-19, 11-4 SLC). The Bearkats have the conference's second-longest winning streak at four games, while ACU looks to rebound after its home losses to McNeese last weekend.

WEEKEND COVERAGE… Friday afternoon's doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. (6 p.m. for Game 2), and will have a live stat option only. Saturday's game will start at 12 p.m., and will be broadcast on ESPN+ as well as have live stats.

THE SERIES… ACU and Sam Houston State will take the diamond for games 18-20 between the schools since 2014, when the Wildcats joined the NCAA Division I and the Southland Conference. The Bearkats lead the series 11-7, but ACU won the final two games of the series in Abilene last year. SHSU leads the series 6-3 in Huntsville, while ACU is 4-2 against the Bearkats at Poly Wells Field. The teams first met in Denton, Texas at a tournament hosted by North Texas in 2014. Sam Houston State won seven of the first eight games, but ACU has won six of the last 10.
