ABILENE – It took the Abilene Christian women's tennis team approximately 75 minutes to shut out the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts Friday afternoon on the indoor courts of the Teague Events Center. The Wildcats played an abbreviated dual in order to start their road trip to College Station, where they'll play two matches Saturday vs. UTRGV (10 a.m.) and the 21st-ranked Texas A&M Aggies (5 p.m.)
ACU today won two of three doubles contest, while its match at No. 2 was left unfinished with the team of
Sarah Adams and
Allison Stewart leading Gorana Kadijevic and Jovana Antonijevic, 4-3.
Nini Memishishi and
Jordan Henry won at No. 1, 6-2, over Ceijenia Cornelius and Andrea Vasiljevic, and at No. 3
Ileana Mocciola and Autumn Bellow topped Valentina Gisbert and Flavia Balcazar, 6-1.
Only the top three singles matches were contested. Memishishi clobbered Ceijenia Cornelius, 6-1, 6-1, for her second-consecutive win at No. 1, and fifth of the spring. Adams defeated Kadijevic, 6-2, 6-2, and Bellow stopped Balcazar at No. 3, 6-4, 6-1, for her third-straight singles triumph.
