ARLINGTON, Texas - The ACU women's tennis season ended with a 4-0 loss to top-seeded Grand Canyon in the 2025 WAC Team Tennis Championship on Friday afternoon.
The No. 4 seeded Wildcats, who finished the spring with a 6-13 record, won at No. 3 doubles when
Olivia Sears and
Maria Cascos earned their fifth consecutive victory with a 6-3 triumph. The pair went 10-3 as doubles partners this spring.
However, GCU took the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches over ACU to earn the point and take a 1-0 lead in the dual.
Though
Alice Klinteby won her first set at No. 5 singles, and
Masha Vrsalovic forced a third set at the No. 1 line, the Wildcats could not slow down the Lopes. GCU took victories at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles to claim the match.
The Wildcats finished their season in the WAC semifinals for the third time in their four seasons in the conference. In the seven seasons they've been eligible to play in a Division I conference tournament, ACU has reached the semifinals five times.Â
