ARLINGTON, Texas – The ACU softball team (3-6) heads a couple hours east this weekend for a four-game schedule at the Maverick Invitational, held on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23-24. It all begins with a doubleheader Saturday against Prairie View A&M (10 a.m.) and Wichita State (12:30 p.m.), and wraps up Sunday with a rematch with the Shockers (11:30 a.m.) and the finale against UT-Arlington (2 p.m.).

TOURNAMENT INFO… The tournament takes place at Allan Saxe Field in Arlington, with games beginning Friday at 4 p.m. The schedule has been altered due to projected weather in the area, with hope the rain and cold will hold off for the weekend.

WATCH… ACU's Sunday matchup against UT-Arlington will be
the only Wildcat game streamed online. However, all five games do have a
live stat option.

LOUISIANA TRIP… The Wildcats's second tournament of 2019 featured a pair of Saturday wins over Mississippi Valley State and Fairleigh Dickinson, but did see losses to Wichita State, Southeast Missouri State, and Louisiana Tech. Overall, the LA Tech Invitational in Ruston propelled two Wildcats to All-Tournament Team,
Calie Burris and
Kayla Keeling. Burris hit .500 for the weekend (6-12), with four doubles to go along with a 1-0 record in the circle with a pair of strikeouts. Offensively, Keeling drove in five to lead ACU, with a pair of homeruns and a triple.
Blair Clayton added a .417 hitting performance (5-12) while slugging .917 with three doubles and a home run, driving in four.
TEAM LEADERS… Clayton leads ACU at the plate this season with a .381 average, and her .810 slugging percentage ranks second in the Southland Conference. Sophomore
Briana Tijerina is hitting .333, good for second on the squad, with Keeling's .308 in third. Clayton and Keeling's two homers are the leaders so far, and
Katelyn Belch's six runs scored are a team high as well.
